Consequently, the primary objective of Leadership Collier is to educate local business leaders about the societal and economic challenges facing the community today. Through hands-on experiences, participants explore local government, education, economic development and the arts. With the benefit of new perspectives and connections, participants are prepared to take their places as effective community leaders. ™ Growing Associates in Naples™, also known as GAIN™, is a program specifically designed for emerging leaders and professionals in Collier County of ages 21-40. Participants learn about local government, charitable organizations, arts, commerce, law enforcement, tourism, education and other resources so that graduates can become involved and be effective community contributors. ™ The mission of Youth Leadership Collier™ (YLC) is to develop ethical leaders committed to active community involvement. Now approaching our thirteenth year of programming, YLC has reached over 400 students to date. YLC empowers students to become effective leaders through hands on experiences and field work with key organizations, while encouraging returning or staying in Collier County to begin careers and community leadership. Youth Leadership Wake Forest is an annual training program for high school students who have demonstrated some leadership abilities. The program aims to develop a group of informed, committed and competent youth motivated to learn more about our community, to assume leadership roles in our schools, and to become more involved in our civic, cultural, economic development, and philanthropic organizations and groups. The Leadership Haines City Area County program brings together current and emerging leaders from Haines City and Northeast Polk, with the charge of developing a network of informed, proactive, talented and resourceful leaders to constantly improve our community’s quality of life. Leadership participants learn about different sectors of the community (government, private, non-profit); and the issues, challenges, and opportunities that confront its current leaders and the leaders of tomorrow. The 9-month program immerses participants in activities and discussions to increase their awareness and ability to assess current and future issues that impact or will impact Haines City, Polk County, and the State of Florida. Eleven business leaders participated in the Chamber's inaugural adult leadership class in 2010, ten business leaders participated in the 2011 class, eleven business leaders participated in the 2012, ten business leaders participated in the 2013 Class and nine business leaders participated in the 2014 Class. Classmates emerged from the experience with strong bonds of friendship, greater knowledge about their community and a deeper awareness of the issues our public and private businesses face.
